Ethan Long is living a dream he has had since grade
school — to be a professional artist. Growing up in Central Pennsylvania,
his enjoyment of the outdoors was surpassed only by his love of drawing.
His parents and extended family encouraged his artistic aptitude by giving
him plenty of time to create — and supplying boatloads of pencils and
paper.
Ethan polished his talent at the highly
regarded Ringling School of Art and Design, from which he graduated
in 1991. He dove into his career as an illustrator with characteristic
passion, and soon his hard work paid off with a growing list of prominent
clients, including Nickelodeon Studios, Scholastic and Barnes and Noble.
Ethan's career then led him into children's books, where he has flourished,
illustrating and writing books for many major publishers, including Little,
Brown and Co., Holiday House, Inc., and Dutton Children's Books.
After illustrating numerous successful books, Ethan decided to try his hand at an animated television series and a top-secret short series. The pilot for his animated television series, Farm Force, won the Nextoons: 2005 Nicktoons Film Festival ViewerÕs Choice Award. Look for news projects soon!
His work has earned many awards and has been included
in the prestigious shows of the Society of Illustrators Los Angeles and
the Society of Illustrators New York.
The lighthearted spirit that infuses
Ethan's work is also evident in his personal life. He is an amateur juggler,
a novice birdwatcher, a creative force in the kitchen, and an enthusiastic
playmate for his kids. He currently lives in Orlando, Florida with his wife, 3 children, dog, cat and hermit crab, none of whom laugh at his jokes.
