about ethan

Ethan Long is living a dream he has had since he was 3 years old Ñ to be a professional artist. Growing up in Central Pennsylvania, his enjoyment of the outdoors was surpassed only by his love of drawing. His parents and extended family encouraged his artistic aptitude by giving him plenty of time to create Ñ and supplying boatloads of pencils and paper.

Ethan polished his talent at the highly regarded Ringling School of Art and Design, from which he graduated in 1991. He dove into his career as an illustrator with characteristic passion, and soon his hard work paid off with a growing list of prominent clients, including Nickelodeon Studios, Scholastic, Barnes and Noble and Harcourt.

Ethan's career then led him into children's books, where he has flourished, illustrating and writing books for many major publishers, including Little, Brown and Co., Holiday House, Inc., and Dutton Children's Books. His illustrated titles include, Ma–ana Iguana by Ann Whitford Paul, Wuv Bunnies From Outers Pace by David Elliott, and the wildly popular Tickle the Duck! which he both wrote and illustrated.

Ethan then decided to try his hand at an animated television series and created "Tasty Time With ZeFronk!" a short form animated preschool series about a wiener dog who broadcasts a cooking show from his doghouse. The series is currently airing on Playhouse Disney. Look for new projects soon!

His work has earned many awards and has been included in the prestigious shows of the Society of Illustrators Los Angeles and the Society of Illustrators New York.

The lighthearted spirit that infuses Ethan's work is also evident in his personal life. He is an amateur juggler, a novice birdwatcher, a creative force in the kitchen, and an enthusiastic playmate for his kids. He currently lives in Orlando, Florida with his wife, three children, dog and cat, none of whom laugh at his jokes.
