So I was sitting one day with my kids in May
of 2003, sketching and creating some characters and came up with
the idea of farm animals becoming superheroes. Simple enough,
right? The idea was to make it into a book series, but the idea
kept growing and growing and I realized after much blood, sweat
and tears that it would be better as an animated television series.
I kept drawing and re-drawing and writing and re-writing, until
my family, nor my bank account could stand it any longer. Then
it came to me that I needed some serious help. So I took it to
my friend Rob
Cowie who thought it was funny enough to put some effort
into and we started developing it further. We contacted Project
Firefly Animation Studios in Orlando, FL, had some meetings
and decided to make a series pilot based on my initial concept.
Six months later, after long hours of creating, writing, hiring
voice talent, animating, editing, and a lot of other stuff, we
had an animated pilot to be proud of. The pilot ÒFarm Force:
Send in the ClonesÓ premiered in Orlando, FL in January 2005.
Our next step was to market our series to the networks and studios.
We visited NATPE and KIDSCREEN in
New York and talked with many of the industryÕs biggest names.
In July of 2005, we submitted it to Nextoons, The Nicktoons
Film Festival 2005 and won the ViewerÕs Choice award! This
created a buzz around the project and soon we signed a development
deal with Porchlight
Entertainment in Los Angeles. We are currently in the initial
stages of developing 26 half hour episodes, and look forward
to lots of fun and lots of work in the future. Thanks to everyone
involved for keeping Farm Force alive and well!
May the Farm Force be with you!
