Back in 2000, my Dad passed away and something deep inside me blurted out the idea of a comic strip featuring a raccoon, a deer, a Bigfoot character and a sassy skunk. I tried developing it, but realized quickly that I didnŐt know how to write very well. I spent the next seven years writing in journals, typing out stories, and reading as much as I could on the subject. Along the way, I published a few childrenŐs books, wrote and sold some animation projects and developed more comic strips all with the hope of one day writing and drawing my own comic strip and maybe, just maybe, resurrecting Rick and Rack. Late in 2007, I decided it was time to give Rick and Rack another try. I drew the mandatory 36 strips and sent them out to the major syndicates hoping for more than the standard rejection letter. I did receive a few, but UCLICK/GoComics contacted me about putting the strip online! I thought it would be a great chance to get my name out there as a cartoonist and also develop the strip further. Thanks to UClick for giving Rick and Rack this fantastic opportunity!
We are really truly only in the incubation stage. LetŐs hope Rick and Rack grows up healthy and happy and that it reaches itŐs full potential as a daily newspaper strip! With your support, it will.
