Ethan Long is an award-winning, internationally recognized author, illustrator, and creator of children’s animation.
His Emmy-nominated Scribbles and Ink is an integrated game and video series available on PBSKids.org, and also exists as a popular digital book series on Epic and Amazon.
In publishing, Ethan is the author and/or illustrator of more than 150 titles, including Dog Meets Dog, Fright Club, Tickle the Duck, One Drowsy Dragon, Big Cat, Pug, Give Me Back My Book, Chamelia and the New Kid in Class, and the Happy County series. His book Up! Tall! and High! received the Theodor Seuss Geisel Award. He is also the illustrator of five board books in the bestselling Good Night, Good Night, Construction Site series by Sherri Duskey Rinker, as well as the wildly successful Stick Dog chapter books by Tom Watson. His middle-grade memoir, The Death and Life of Benny Brooks: Sort of a Memoir, was published in 2023 and received multiple starred reviews.
In television, Ethan created and executive produced the Emmy-nominated animated preschool short-form series Tasty Time with ZeFronk, which aired daily on Disney Channel and Disney Junior from 2008–2011. He also created the animated short film Farm Force: Send in the Clones, which won the 2005 Nextoons Film Festival Viewer’s Choice Award.
A graduate of Ringling College of Art and Design (1991), Ethan spent many years in Orlando, Florida, before later living in Denver, Colorado, and now New York City.
Outside of work, he enjoys traveling with his wife, Heather, and their three grown children. He also spends time developing ideas, taking long walks, meeting friends and colleagues for coffee and meals, buying art, napping, hanging out with his dog Auggie, and riding the subways around New York City.
