Author, illustrator, letterer, character designer, colorist, storyboarder, logo designer—I wear many hats as a children’s book creator. I’m not just writing words and making pictures; I’m helping invent the idea, championing the book, and doing whatever it takes to see it through.
Even with teams of editors, art directors, and marketers supporting the process, I’m always self-editing and pushing to make the final book stronger. The language has to land for the right age group, the humor can’t drift too far into sarcasm or above the reading level, and the characters have to feel alive and engaging. There are a lot of moving parts, but that’s also what makes it so satisfying when it all comes together.
I do what it takes, alongside my team, to give each book the best possible chance to connect with readers. The goal is always the same: to make something that truly resonates—something that feels like a home run.
Over the years, I’ve been involved in many titles as both illustrator and author/illustrator, working with major publishers as well as smaller ones. I’ve collaborated on projects that went all the way to publication, and others that stopped just short. Some of the books have won awards, and others have gone out of print.
