A Few Final Thoughts

My entire life has been about making things. Creating has always been at the center of everything I do—my constant, my compass. Somewhere along the way, I realized I’ve spent my life doing something many people stop doing far too soon: playing. I’ve simply been lucky enough to make a career out of it.

There have been successes, setbacks, surprises, and reinventions along the way, but I’ve never stopped showing up with curiosity, a pencil, and the excitement of seeing where the next idea might lead.

Even now, 58 years in, I still get a thrill watching a simple line appear from the end of my pencil and turn into something alive on the page. Whether I’m writing, illustrating, designing, or working as an art and literary agent, that sense of curiosity and play keeps me moving forward.

There are still stories I’d like to tell, kids’ books I’d like to write, artists I’d like to help, and ideas I’d like to explore. After all these years, it still feels like I’m making it up as I go—and I mean that in the best possible way.

Creativity isn't just what I do—it's a lifelong commitment, a relationship I keep choosing every day. It's an occasional obsession, an inner necessity, and a deep, deep devotion.

Best wishes, and keep creating!
